A Bear with Pants by Adam C. Warren is a fun children's book about a young bear called Bear with Pants. One of his legs is longer than the other, and so he walks with a limp. He is starting school, and so he gets on the school bus. On the school bus, he sees Snake with a Scarf, who hisses at him the entire way. At school, he waits for everyone to get off the bus before he limps off. But Snake with a Scarf is waiting for him, and trips him. Because of that, Bear with Pants is late for class and gets in trouble. Later on, he meets a butterfly, who teaches him to be courageous. The next day, Snake with a Scarf is waiting for him to get off the bus again. Will Bear with Pants be courageous enough to stand up for himself?
I really enjoyed reading A Bear with Pants by Adam C. Warren. The book is very well written and descriptive. The story teaches the importance of standing up for not only yourself, but others around you, as well as teaching that bullying isn't cool. The characters are all very likeable, because Bear with Pants is willing to forgive, and Snake with a Scarf shows that anyone can change. Many people will be able to relate to this book, because many people have been bullied. The pictures by Zack Arnett are well drawn, and clearly depict each scene and each character. I liked that all of the animals wore clothes. The story is very creative. I would recommend this to all young readers.

Fantastic and timely message conveyed in a fun, imaginative way. Illustrations are beautiful and I absolutely loved the creativity of the character names. With empathy declining in our society, this is a great book to read and discuss as a family. Although it is obviously a book directed at younger children, the values of inclusion and kindness span all age groups. Definitely recommend! - Tracy de Encio
What a fun book! The first thing that caught my eye was the artwork, and that it was about bears - I love bears! But it was story that really captured my heart. I love how the kids learn to come together and to believe in themselves (and their own unique talents!) to deal with the bullies at school. I got the impression this was written by a loving parent for their own kids and I'm glad they decided to share it with the rest of us! Definitely worth adding to your library! - Kelly Flynn
I highly recommend this book to all families with school age children. Being different and dealing with bullies can be a real challenge for kids and their parents. I read this book with my kids when one of their friends was dealing with bullying issues. The lessons learned enabled them to help stick up for the friend and change the interactions. This story lays out the issues in a way that is relatable. The art is also fantastic and brings the story to life. A must have on your kid's bookshelf! - Matt Becker
